Performance Biography

I am a flute and recorder player based in Cleveland, OH. I grew up in a musical family in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was lucky enough to start going to classical concerts with my dad as a toddler. I began playing flute in primary school and it was love at first B-flat Major scale.

Throughout secondary school I participated in youth orchestras, competitions, and summer festivals in southeast Michigan and beyond. I studied flute performance at the University of Michigan with the wonderful Amy Porter for my undergraduate and master’s studies.

During my time in Michigan, my dear friend and colleague Taya König-Tarasevich introduced me to the Baroque flute and to harpsichord professor Joseph Gascho. He played a large role in my early discovery of and passion for Early Music. I had the unique opportunity to work closely with leadership of the Baroque Chamber Orchestra and present two concerts in collaboration with the library’s archival collections.

As I grew more serious about historical performance, I began commuting several hours to Oberlin to study with Kathie Stewart, flutist with Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra. In the summers that followed, I enjoyed attending Oberlin BPI, Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, and American Bach Soloists summer festival, where I learned from masters including Christopher Krueger, Claire Guimond, and Sandra Miller. I have also be lucky to spend time in Europe taking lessons with Marten Root, Kate Clark, Wilbert Hazelzet, and Marc Hantaï.

After my degrees in modern flute, I completed a Historical Performance degree at The Juilliard School, where I had the chance to play for and with many leaders in the field including Jed Wentz, Rachel Podger, Masaaki Suzuki, and William Christie. As a New York-based chamber musician, I am a founding member of Open Source Baroque and a member of the Nuova Practica ensemble.
